Power your TV with toilet waste, don an exoskeleton that gives you superhuman strength or have the ability to accurately predict the weather 100% of the time for the next two years. These are just a few of the projects, which final year engineering students from the Department’s of Infrastructure; Mechanical; Electrical and Electronic; and Computer Science and Software Engineering are working on that will be showcased at the Endeavour Design Expo this year.
Alumni, industry and the general public are invited to attend the 2011 Endeavour Design Expo in Wilson Hall and the Concrete Lawns on Thursday October 27, from 11am to 4pm. The Expo will feature over 100 projects focusing on a wide range of topics from fields such as: environmental engineering, computer simulation, biomedical engineering, signal analysis, control theory, automotive design, communications, entertainment and multimedia.
This event provides students, academics, industry representatives and the general public, an opportunity to interact and learn more about engineering education and the latest achievements of the Melbourne School of Engineering’s students and staff. The exhibition is free, registration is not required and there are show bags and other giveaways on offer.
Endeavour Project Manager Sisi Ying says that many of the projects on display have serious potential to make a difference to peoples’ lives and communities.
“These projects are not about students doing some research on some generic topic, these projects aim to advance our current understanding of science and technology on a practical level,” Sisi said.
The Endeavour Design Expo will be followed in the evening by the Endeavour Industry Night, an opportunity for industry representatives to interact with the students and their projects. Highlights of the evening will include project demonstrations and an awards ceremony. The Industry Night will run in Wilson Hall and the Concrete Lawn from 6-9pm on Thursday October 27th. To register your attendance email endeavour-mse@unimelb.edu.au.
Endeavour is a not-for-profit and student managed venture between the participating departments of the Melbourne School of Engineering. Endeavour aims to promote engineering innovation, excellence and collaboration to university, primary and secondary students, industry and the wider community, through a range of events and programs. These events increase awareness of engineering and technology, connect students with industry and foster the pursuit of engineering excellence to inspire the next generation of engineering students and graduates.
Endeavour 2011 is made possible through generous support from industry sponsors.
