This month we pay tribute to Christine Tursky Gordon (BE (Elec)(Hons)/ BA) who has recently stepped down as Chair of the Melbourne School of Engineering Foundation (MSE Foundation).
During her four year tenure, Ms Tursky Gordon has been a committed advocate of the MSE Foundation’s founding mission to celebrate excellence. She is passionate about University education and its capacity to change lives and is a firm believer that engineering can change the world we live in.
After stepping up from Deputy Chair to Chair in 2011, Ms Tursky Gordon actively embraced the Board’s realignment to focus on generating financial and community support, spearheading fundraising efforts for the School and encouraging a culture of philanthropy and engagement.
Ms Tursky Gordon should be recognised for her unrelenting energy and commitment to the School and for the countless hours she has dedicated to connecting with alumni, staff and students and for cultivating strong industry partnerships. Under her leadership, the School established the Len Stevens Scholarship appeal, awarded over 160 MSEF scholarships and rolled out celebration activities for the 150th anniversary of Engineering at the University of Melbourne. Ms Tursky Gordon also led the Foundation through the launch of the Believe campaign, echoing its vision to educate future leaders and find answers to the worlds’ great challenges.
Prior to her role as Chair, Ms Tursky Gordon worked pro-bono for the School through her entire career as Assistant Dean, Equity and Diversity, Chair of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Industry Group, member of the Campaign Coordination Committee and Deputy Chair of MSEF.
An Engineering School alumnus herself, Ms Tursky Gordon has an impressive resumé including a decade at Hewlett Packard and co-founder and co-owner of South Tech Systems, a specialised Defence Engineering company.
The School would like to thank Ms Tursky Gordon for her tireless commitment to her role as Chair and we are thrilled that she will continue her relationship with the School by remaining on the Foundation Board as a general member.
Ms Tursky Gordon is thrilled to welcome long standing board member, John North into the Chair position “I’m so delighted that John is the new Chair of the MSE Foundation. We are lucky to have a group of dedicated and enthusiastic board members and it is such a pleasure to work with all of them. John’s experience and commitment to engineering education make him a great choice for Chair.”
