Dr Vijay Bhatkar is an internationally acknowledged scientist and IT leader of India. He is widely known as the architect of India’s first supercomputer and as the Founder Executive Director of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), India’s national initiative in supercomputing. He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet of Government of India, Governing Council Member of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in India and the eGovernance Committee Chairman of the Governments of Maharashtra and Goa. Dr Vijay Bhatkar has been honored with both the Padmashri and Maharashtra Bhusham awards and has authored and edited 12 books and 80 research and technical papers. Areas of current interest include Exascale Supercomputing, Brain-Mind-Consciousness and Synthesis of Science and Spirituality.
The second speaker, Dr Jayant Naralikar will be focusing his discussion on the “Amazing World of Astronomy.” He is internationally known for his work in cosmology. Dr Jayant Naralikar work as an astrophysicist has involved advocating for alternative cosmology models to the popularly believed big-bang theory. Through is extensive work in this area of study, Narlikar was honoured with the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science in 1996.
